Back to school!
The sidewalks and then hallways were buzzing with excitement as students returned to school this morning. |
School is back in session at B-B-E schools for the 2014-2015 academic year. Below are some tips and pointers for adults and children from the Stearns County Sheriff's Office:
Riding the Bus
- When getting on and off the bus, check to see if any cars are passing on the shoulder.
- Before crossing in front of the bus, step away and make eye contact with the driver.
- Look both ways when crossing the street.
Walking
- Cross only at intersections or crosswalks and obey all traffic signs and signals.
- When a car approaches make eye contact with the driver before crossing.
- Take extra care when crossing multiple lanes to be sure all cars have stopped.
Driving
- Stop at least 20 feet from a school bus with red flashing lights and the stop sign out, whether you’re approaching from behind or from the opposite direction.
- Slow down around schools and stop for crossing guards.
- Yield to pedestrians at street corners, and both marked and unmarked crosswalks.
Be safe!
