Browerville

The Browerville Tigers are heading to the Class 1A state volleyball tournament after ending Sebeka's season in a 3-1 match tonight while claiming the Section 5A championship. Sebeka won game one 25-23, but the Tigers then won 26-24, 25-12 and 25-21 to head to state in volleyball for the first time since 2005 when they took sixth place. In school history, this is Browerville's second trip to state in volleyball. One fun little nugget that I dug up from the 2005 season was from the Section 5A championship match, when Browerville beat Verndale 3-1. That night the Tigers served 91-for-93 while having sterling serve-receive of 95 percent (80-for-84).

This year's Tigers volleyball team has a number of athletes who played on last year's section champion girls' basketball team. They take a 24-5 record into the state tournament and will probably be unseeded.
