Wildcats vs. Eagles

For over 20 years, one of the earliest games of the girls' basketball season (and generally the opener) has been New London-Spicer vs. Eden Valley-Watkins. Also during that span, it has been a section game - whether it was in the old two-class system or the current four-class setup.

This year, NL-S traveled to Eden Valley on Thursday this week and knocked down the Eagles in a 48-41 win. EV-W is expected to challenge B-B-E for the Central Minnesota Conference title, while NL-S is reloading in a big way after losing most of their players from last year's fourth-place (Class 2A) state tournament squad. NL-S has just two seniors on the roster! One is perhaps one of the best guards in Class 2A basketball, Shea Oman.

B-B-E's girls' basketball team faces EV-W at home on December 12. That is a game to circle on the calendar, if you haven't already!

On Friday we'll be shifting gears in a big way towards the B-B-E Jaguars wrestling team, as they host a 10-team tournament at the high school to open their 2017-18 campaign.

Also, the B-B-E Jaguars boys' basketball team opens the season at Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg on Friday night. Make sure to check the radio broadcast schedule that was printed on page two of this week's Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper.
