State championship round

At 106 pounds, K-M-S's Will Maagaard claimed the Class 1A title with a win by a 10-7 decision.

Canon Swanson should be on the mat around 18:50 for the 120-pound finals.

**Update: Swanson lost a 4-0 decision to finish with a silver medal and a 47-3 overall record this season. He trailed 1-0 going into the final minute of the third period.  It was a great match.

**In the playoff semifinals, the B-B-E Jaguars girls' basketball team defeated Swanvilla 62-41. At halftime, they trailed 30-24 to the No. 4-seeded Swanville Bulldogs (14-10). Next: the subsection finals on Tuesday, March 6 at Foley high school at 7 p.m.!

**Adam Jaeger should be on the mat by 20:00 or soon after. The 145-pound title matches started at 19:52.

*Update at 20:15! We have a STATE CHAMPION! A 29-year drought at B-B-E is over! Adam Jaeger earned a takedown in the closing seconds of the third period to win a 3-1 decision and finish his senior year with a perfect 34-0 record!! He defeated senior Jacob Tvinnereim (48-6) of Jackson County Central. HOW COOL IS THAT! This is B-B-E's first wrestling state title since 1989, when Brendan Bogart won a state title in our first year as a paired program under the Jaguars banner.

Here's a fun tid bit I learned tonight: the paid attendance at the state wrestling tournament was 54,528. The capacity of the Xcel Energy Center is approximately 19,300.
