27 minutes

Twenty-seven minutes!!!

That's how long the first game took tonight at Little Falls. Twenty-seven minutes! It was a wild, wild one that played out at Little Falls high school. For the majority of the first game, Pine River-Backus had the upper hand on the scoreboard. But the final score is what determines the outcome in sports! The B-B-E Jaguars volleyball team trailed 20-14 at one point, but they went on an incredible run to tie the game and then pull in front while earning a 25-22 win. They were absolutely on fire down the stretch and finished it on a 3-0 run.

An ace serve by Nicole Thonvold tied game one at 11-11. The Tigers poured it on then, getting a kill and two ace serves to go with two B-B-E errors. That made the score 16-11 in favor of PR-B, but Ally Gruber stepped up with a huge kill, a shot she absolutely drilled to the back row. Emily Kern got a kill on a tip across the net, and Emily Knight got an ace attack on a tip to make it 16-14. That was an important sequence, as other teams would have likely folded and saw PR-B march towards a blowout win.

The Tigers got back-to-back kills, and a B-B-E error made it 19-14, then a PR-B kill made the score 20-14.

TWENTY TO FOURTEEN! That is a steep hill to climb...but climb the Jaguars did!

It was amazing to take in. And you can take it in too, thanks to the support of the Bonanza Valley Voice subscriber and advertisers who keep the sport department going! Here's the footage:

In a quick review of my note, the Jaguars pulled ahead 22-21 after trailing 20-15. It was pure pandemonium at that point! Tied 22-22, game one was anyone's game, but the Jaguars stomped their foot down and made a statement. They were there to WIN!

*On Sunday, the Jaguars Sports blog will be updated once again with more video and hopefully state tournament pairings. I believe by 11 a.m. that information will be available. Stay tuned! Click on the header ("Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguar Sports") to refresh the whole page.
