Random Monday notes, and sad news
Here's a web article taking the beginning of the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper's state tournament story in the November 15 issue. It includes a short, action-packed video clip from towards the end of game three of the state quarterfinals.

Want to stay up-to-date with local events and happenings? Of course, read the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper. You can also look at the newspaper's website community calendar, which is updated frequently throughout each week. The direct link is: https://www.bonanzavalleyvoice.com/page/bonanza-valley-community-calendar/102.html. It's another handy way to keep up to date on what's going on. The website is supported by all advertisers in the newspaper, and some businesses pay for specific website advertising such as Bonanza Valley State Bank of Brooten, Central Square of Glenwood, The Local Pantry of Brooten and Glacial Ridge Health System of Glenwood/Starbuck/Brooten. Please thank them!
On a very sad note, I want to get the word out on a Celebration of Life for Dan Freese that is set for Sunday, November 25 at the Sunburg Community Center from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Dan Freese was a member of the Brooten Class of 1984 and a very talented football and basketball player for the Brooten Buccaneers. I also noticed he was a junior attendant at the 1982 Brooten high school Homecoming coronation. In his junior year on the football team's pages, I see him listed as a 175-pound tackle, No. 77, in the 1983 Brooten yearbook. Brooten went 4-5 in 1982. Also in the 1983 yearbook, I see Dan as a member of the BHS student council.
Dan was just 53 years old and passed away a few days ago. Very, very sad! His obituary will be in this week's Voice.
Happy Winter, Bonanza Valley! I think winter is here to stay.
