Border battle on the home court
The B-B-E Jaguars boys' basketball team is hosting Paynesville Area tonight in a border battle between neighboring Central Minnesota Conference teams.
The game is being aired on both Smooth Magic 107 FM and The Train 106.5 FM. I've got a heavy-duty double duty night, with the Brooten city council hosting an important meeting where they'll set the 2020 budget...plus the game on the west end of town at the elementary. "Two places at one time!" Thank goodness for the TuneIn app!!!
The Jaguars got an early three-pointer in the opening minute from Kaden Pieper for a 3-0 lead. The score was a 5-5 dead lock through four minutes.
With 12 minutes to play, the Bulldogs had a slim 7-5 lead.
Later in the first half, the Bulldogs have built a 26-10 lead with just over three minutes to go.
Halftime score: Paynesville Area 28, B-B-E 12. The Jaguars were outscored by a 17 to 2 margin in the final nine minutes of the half.
Final score: Paynesville Area 62, B-B-E 43. The Jaguars (0-2) shot just 26 percent from the floor. Also hurting the cause was getting to the free throw line zero times in the first half and just six times in the second half.
Next: a trip to Benson tomorrow night!
