Battle in Morrison County won by the Jaguars
A tough Central Minnesota Conference battle in Morrison County was won by the B-B-E Jaguars girls' basketball team tonight. After a thoroughly entertaining back-and-forth second half, the Jaguars came out on top 62-53 to remain undefeated in the CMC. As a team, the Jaguars shot 56 percent from the floor. Two seniors led the way tonight with 15 points each: Karsee Kampsen and Allisa Knight. Also in double figures was Harley Roering with 13 points.
B-B-E improves to 11-0 in the CMC, while Holdingford falls to 11-2. The Jaguars haven't won a conference title yet, but they are in the driver's seat! They control their own destiny. They earned a series sweep tonight against a senior dominated squad with six seniors on the roster, including one who's a six-footer. Holdingford presents excellent shooting, great size and athleticism plus outstanding defense. This was a quality win for B-B-E.
Up next: a highly-anticipated border battle tomorrow night, when the No. 4-ranked Jaguars host state-ranked Sauk Centre. It's another game where two state-ranked teams will square off with one another...the third such game in three weeks! Sauk Centre (13-0) is ranked No. 2 in Class 2A in the Minnesota Basketball News rankings released just yesterday.
Sauk Centre dodged a bullet this week, as they did not play BOLD on Tuesday night. The BOLD sports teams are shut down for a two-week stretch due to COVID cases at the school, so their Tuesday night game was canceled ahead of time.
Tomorrow I will make sure I get the correct video player posted! Tonight I am pretty sure I had the JV game player posted after the varsity game started. I didn't catch it until late in the second half.
I have to give a quick shout out to the B-B-E/Paynesville Pirouettes dance team, as they prepare for the playoffs this weekend. They compete on Saturday at Montevideo high school in the Section 3A state-qualifying competition. Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend the section dance comp.
