New Life Academy Eagles

New Life Academy (26-3) is the No. 3 seed in the Class A dance, marking the Eagles’ third tournament appearance ever, and first since 2004 when they made back-to-back trips. The Woodbury private school, champions of Section 4A and co-champions of the Skyline Conference with Maranatha Christian, has four players averaging double figures scoring. Top scorer has been 6'2" senior guard Kollin Kaemingk, who scores 15 points per game. Kaemingk is the team's lone senior and led them yesterday with 20 points against Sacred Heart of East Grand Forks. The team has 11 juniors on the roster. One of the juniors is 6'8" big man Erick Reader, who had eight points yesterday. He made four of his six two-point shots and missed his lone three-point attempt. Other top scorers for NLA were junior Maxwell Biggs with 13 and junior Austin Woolf with nine.

Overall, eight total NLA players scored in the game. They present multiple offensive threats. B-B-E's defense will have to rise to the occasion to get past them.

Last season, NLA went 8-12 overall and 4-7 in the Skyline Conference during the pandemic season. They went 1-1 in the Section 4AA playoffs.

**Here's a video I haven't posted yet that goes way back to Step III of the playoffs...back on March 15 after the Jaguars defeated Hancock:

I plan on getting a much better job done tomorrow at Williams Arena in terms of getting better pictures and hopefully video too...it's been eight years since I've covered basketball there, and I was lost and confused when I first walked in. Yikes!
