Homecoming volleyball brings another sweep (VIDEO)

The B-B-E Jaguars volleyball team earned another Central Minnesota Conference sweep a week after winning on the road in the same fashion. Tonight against Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City, the Jaguars built big leads in both games one and two before gutting out 25-20 and 25-19 wins. In game one, the Jaguars led by as much as 18-5, but the Falcons found a spark with back-to-back kills and cut that deficit to 18-9. The Jaguars led 21-12 before the Falcons had a 6-1 run to cut it to five points. In game two, the Falcons led 3-0 before the Jaguars scored eight unanswered points. That early 8-3 lead expanded to 16-5 at one point and later 24-12. The Jaguars were stuck at 24 points for a long rally by the visitors, who scored seven points in a row before Brooklyn Fischer's kill sealed the win.

The Jaguars led 4-1 early in game three before the Falcons stepped up their level of play and earned a 6-5 lead. The game was a battle from that point on. B-B-E's 15-12 lead disappeared with a Falcons kill that put the visitors ahead 17-16. The Jaguars then stepped up their game and finished off the sweep with a match-ending 9-4 run. Final score: B-B-E 25, A-C-GC 21.

Don't forget! Homecoming tailgating is tomorrow night starting at 5:30 p.m.! Come out to the football stadium and enjoy the evening before kickoff with fellow Jaguar fans. Thanks to many local businesses, the food is free, and they'll be accepting free will donations towards the school's Backpack Attack program. Spread the word!

Next for the volleyball team: the JV and varsity squads travel to Alexandria on Saturday for tournaments at the Alexandria Area high school. The first match for the varsity squad is at 9 a.m.

Tennis and volleyball video is uploading. Don't miss out on recent videos posted including Annika Heieie's interview yesterday at tennis practice. Also, late last night I posted my sports show video. This is the fifth such show we've made in the newspaper's recording studio (AKA the family camper).
