Volleyball sweeps at Holdingford (VIDEO, UPDATES*)
*Friday morning updates to this blog post have been added.
It's another sweep in the Central Minnesota Conference for our B-B-E Jaguars volleyball team. The Jaguars traveled into the northwest corner of Stearns County tonight and came away with a 3-0 win over Holdingford. Game scores were 26-24, 25-12, 25-23.
The Jaguars (20-6) hit at a robust clip of 26 percent in game two while completely overwhelming the Huskers, who fell to 10-10 overall (2-5 CMC) with the loss. More to come after a review of the stat sheet and the upcoming schedule. *Update: the Jaguars had a robust attack at the net with five players earning five or more kills. Ava Mueller had 18 kills on 43 percent hitting to go with three solo blocks and one block assist. Earning seven kills each were Abby Berge and Brooklyn Fischer. Adley Hagen had six kills with 29.4 percent hitting, and Allison Dingmann had five kills.
CMC leader Eden Valley-Watkins (15-8 overall) entered the night 5-0 in the league and traveled to Royalton. They take the short trip west next Tuesday to face Paynesville in a CMC match that will likely determine how the whole race shakes out. The Bulldogs (17-4, 4-1) traveled to Kimball Area tonight.
*Here's a one-week old video from the Homecoming volleyball win over A-C-GC:
It's still early to think too much about the playoffs, but here's dates you should mark on your calendars: Wednesday, October 26 and Friday, October 28. Those two dates should both be home contests for the Jaguars as they begin Sub-Section 6A-South play.

*I'll get more updates here on Friday morning, including some area scores. I will not make it to Browerville on Friday night for Friday Night Lights VII...I'm out of town on a vacation and wedding anniversary with my wife! The team will have to win without me!
Friday update: I am stunned and heartbroken that Paynesville Area lost to Kimball last night. That may sound strange, but it's the truth because it is a stunning loss and it just gives added motivation to Eden Valley-Watkins to win next Tuesday when they travel to Paynesville. The Kimball Area Cubs upset Paynesville in a 3-0 sweep last night. Their senior star player, Kyleigh Tangen, was held to 13 kills as the Bulldogs fell to 4-2 (third) in the CMC. The Jaguars maintain second place alone with a 5-1 record, while the EV-W Eagles are in first place with a 6-0 record.
Central Minnesota Conference volleyball scores on October 13:
Kimball Area 3, Paynesville Area 0 (27-25, 25-17, 25-20)
Maple Lake 3, Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 2 (25-21, 25-23, 22-25, 21-25, 15-8)
Eden Valley-Watkins 3, Royalton 0
