Another sub-section sweep! (VIDEOS)

The B-B-E Jaguars volleyball team earned another sub-section sweep as they defeated visiting Brandon-Evansville tonight for Seniors Night. This year's senior student manager is Madison Hofmann. The senior student athletes on the team are Brenna Quade, Brooklyn Fischer, Faith Radermacher, Taylor Oeltjenbruns and Anna Jaeger. All seven of them are daughters of one or more B-B-E graduates!!!

Game scores were 25-22, 25-21, 25-19. As a team, the Jaguars hit at a 29.6 percent clip.

**Here's the video featuring the Seniors Night presentation:

The Chargers (9-10 overall) have a fairly solid lock on the No. 4 spot in Sub-Section 6A-South. They have lost four in a row now, but two of those four losses were in five sets. One of those five-set losses was to the top team in Sub-Section 6A-North, the Underwood Chargers. Brandon-Evansville, currently fourth in the Little Eight Conference at 4-3, is not a team to sleep on as they have played well against the better teams on their schedule. They will make noise in the upcoming playoffs.

NEXT: the Jaguars (19-6 overall) host Royalton this Thursday, October 12 for Parents Night. It is also a big, huge Central Minnesota Conference match!! The Royals (14-10 overall) are just one match out of first place with a 4-1 CMC record, good for a tie for second place currently with Paynesville Area. B-B-E is 5-0 in the loop.

See you Thursday!

*ICYMI...here's my Fall Sports Show No. 5 recorded late last Friday night after the Homecoming game:

More to come on Tuesday morning. It's time to write a big school board story.

TUESDAY NIGHT updates...
I saw on Tuesday morning that the Jaguars have climbed to No. 12 in the Class 1A volleyball state rankings. I also saw that the football team made a huge jump to No. 5 in the Class 1A state rankings!! This is incredible! Previously, the highest our football team has ever been ranked in the state polls is No. 6, which was back at the end of the 2013 season. The Jaguars "received votes" in Week 2 of the 1997 season after a 2-0 start. They also received votes in the 2017 season before climbing to No. 10 in the last poll of the regular season. The 2013 and 2017 seasons were previously the only seasons that B-B-E has been ranked in the Top 10 of the state polls.

Upsala/Swanville Area's football team jumped back in the Top 10 and sits in a tie for 8th place with Bethlehem Academy.

Area volleyball scores on October 9:
Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 3, Dawson-Boyd 2 (Falcons have won 5 straight to improve to 9-11 overall)
Holdingford 3, Little Falls 0
Browerville 3, Royalton 0
Lac qui Parle Valley 3, Wheaton/Herman-Norcross 1
Rockford Area 3, Kimball Area 1
Parkers Prairie 3, New York Mills 1
