Top-Seeded Jaguars Baseball Survives First-Round Scare, Defeats Holdingford 4-3 in Eight Innings in Sub-Section Quarterfinals

Josh Beier getting mobbed at first base after his infield hit drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the 8th inning.

With fan support like this, there's no chance our Jaguars could lose!

The Jaguars are now 15-4 on the season. This is the 2nd-most wins in school history. A record of 16-4 is the school record, set in 1995. The Jaguars have now won every playoff opener since 2002 (seven straight).

Josh Beier's infield hit drove home Austin Kampsen from third base in the bottom of the 8th inning for the game winning run. It was an awesome finish to a tense game.

Holdingford, the 9th seed, finishes 4-16.

They play in St.Cloud next Tuesday night at 5:00 at Joe Faber Field. They will play Browerville/Eagle Valley, who won 1-0 tonight against Maple Lake.

Update on Saturday night:
Other scores from Section 5A:
Upsala/Swanville 12, Eden Valley-Watkins 2

Browerville/Eagle Valley 1, Maple Lake 0

Hinckley-Finlayson 3, St. John’s Prep 1 (HF is the top seed for the east half, they are heavily favored to advance to the Final Four round)

Section 5AA baseball score:

I will post more information and photos on Sunday night.

Also, two golfers on the Jaguars girls golf team advanced from the Section 5A meet today to go to "State". Great job! They open the two-day Class A State Tournament on Wednesday, June 4, at Pebble Creek Golf Course in Becker. They are the first golfers from B-B-E to advance to "State" since 2005, when Steven Hurst finished 7th.
