An Outstanding Night in Jaguars Country - Boys and Girls Golf, Baseball, Fastpitch all Find Success on the Playing Field

In a nutshell...

The baseball team won their 12th game of the season tonight in a home game against Kimball, via the 10-run rule in a five-inning 12-2 victory. It is the final CMC game of the season, and they finish in 2nd place in the league (10-4).

The fastpitch team won its 12th game of the season in the Sub-Section 5A-West quarterfinals, edging Holdingford 5-3. They play the Osakis Silverstreaks at Minnewaska Area's high school fastpitch complex next Tuesday (May 20) at 5:30. Osakis is 12-3 on the season, and they went 11-1 to win the Prairie Conference title, their first such title since winning the Prairie in 2003 and 2004.

Osakis starts a 10th grade pitcher, the same one who threw relief innings against the Jaguars in last year's 17-6 playoff opening win for the Blue & Silver. They also employ an 8th grader in the circle. This mirrors the Jaguars' pitching battery. Their hitting stats are quite deceiving, as 12 of their 15 games were played in the soft Prairie Conference.

The Jaguars girls golf team advanced to the Section 5A tournament after a strong showing in the Sub-Section 5A-North meet at the Benson golf course today. I heard from a parent that they finished in 2nd place overall, an excellent finish. The Jaguars boys golf team did the same, as they took home a playoff trophy from the meet. Both squads will be at the Section 5A meet on Friday, May 23 at 9:00 at the Little Crow Golf Club at NL-S.
