Thursday - Many updates to follow, beginning with State tournament updates

Flooding west of Belgrade, along Highway 55...This area was hayed last summer!

The Central Minnesota Conference runners-up Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted Lakers improved to 23-7 on the season with a dramatic come-from-behind 47-45 win over Montevideo (21-8) in the Class AA state quarterfinals on Wednesday night.

Section 6AA champion New London-Spicer fell 71-56 to top-ranked Pelican Rapids in the other state quarterfinal last night at Williams Arena. The Wildcats (23-9) trailed 36-28 at halftime, then pulled ahead 48-47 with 10 minutes left. The Vikings (31-0) poured it on down the stretch to advance to the state semi-final round.

In B-B-E news...The Speech team earned the Central Minnesota Conference championship for the third time since 2006 over the weekend. They did so in dominating fashion, winning by a wide margin over second-place Eden Valley-Watkins.
