Update from Stearns County Sheriff on Wednesday 3:00am morning incident at Cenex

Belgrade – Law enforcement continues to investigate an medical incident in Belgrade early Wednesday.

According to a Stearns County Sheriff’s report, at about 2:45 a.m. on March 4, the sheriff’s office received a report of suspicious activity at the CENEX Convenience Store in Belgrade, phoned in by a Mn-DOT plow driver in the area. The driver had stopped to assist occupants of a stalled vehicle on Highway 55, west of Belgrade. He drove them to the CENEX store and dropped them off. He was concerned about their well being and behavior and notified the sheriff’s department.

A deputy arrived and found Johnathan Kobow, 28, of Stacy in the CENEX parking lot with an injury to his neck. Another individual with Kobow left before officers arrived.
Kobow was transported to the Paynesville hospital and treated for a non-life threatening injury.

Assisting at the scene was Belgrade fire/rescue and the Brooten ambulance service.
The sheriff’s office continues to work with the Belgrade Police Department on this ongoing investigation.
