Elrosa Saints win SCL-North division playoff championship in 10 innings, a 4-3 thriller at New Munich

The Elrosa Saints open up Region 15C playoffs at 1:00pm on Saturday, August 8th against Norway Lake-Sunburg out of the Cornbelt North league.

They won today in an extra-inning marathon, defeating New Munich 4-3 in the Stearns County League North division championship game.

Full stories on the game can be found in this week's Sauk Herald, Belgrade Observer, and Bonanza Valley Voice.

The play of the game took place in the photo below, when Steve Mueller calmly tagged out Karl Funk at home plate for the final out, forcing a 10th inning in the process. Had Funk scored, New Munich would have immediately won the game.

The Saints drafted pitcher Matt Imdieke of Meire Grove, along with catcher Nate Terres of Spring Hill. The pitching duo of Shawn and Eric Schoenberg was drafted by SCL-North runner-up New Munich.

Lake Henry won the Stearns County League South division playoff title, defeating St.Martin 3-1. Additional information on drafts can be found at the Stearns County League's official website; their link is posted in the right column.

Regal defeated Norway Lake-Sunburg 10-4 in the Cornbelt seeding game. Earlier in the day, Norway Lake-Sunburg vanquished New London-Spicer 7-6.
