Jaguars Football picks up first win of the season, 16-8 win at Rockford - Jaguars Volleyball wins three at Bethel Showcase Invitational

The Jaguars football team took their 0-2 record and tossed it to the curb tonight, playing solid defense the entire game to hold the Class AAA Rockets in check.

With tonight's win, the Jaguars Football team improves to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the Central Minnesota Conference.

The Jaguars scored on two touchdowns through the air as well as a safety for their 16 points. The safety came on a quarterback sack by Brent Goodenbour in the Rockets' endzone; the two pass plays were on Joey Gruber to Kevin Kuefler connections.

This marks the fifth straight year that the Jaguars will not go winless on the gridiron. That may not sound like much at other schools, but for B-B-E it's something that's never happened before since the 1988 pairing. In fact, they had never gone four seasons without an 0-8 or 0-9 record until the 2005-2008 seasons.

Tonight at the Bethel University Class A Showcase Tournament, the Jaguars Volleyball team improved to 10-1 overall with wins over Parkers Prairie, Carlton, and Sebeka - all via sweep! Tomorrow they'll play two more matches. They were runners-up at this tournament in 2008.

Carlton entered the tournament 3-1; Parkers Prairie was 3-2, while Sebeka was 6-0. Sebeka is one of the top teams in Sub-Section 5A-North.
