Jaguars Boys Basketball wins a shootout at Rockford, 90-76 - Jaguars Girls basketball squeezes past K-M-S 45-42 in OT

Junior forward Kevin Kuefler poured in 28 points tonight for the Jaguars, as they swept Rockford for only the 2nd time in school history in a 90-76 win.

The Jaguars boys basketball team improved to 16-3 on the season and 9-1 in the Central Minnesota Conference with the win. Four Jaguars in double figures, led by Kevin Kuefler's 28 points, fueled their attack. The visiting Jaguars led 48-39 at halftime.

Rockford is now 5-4 in the CMC and 7-13 overall.

This marks only the 2nd time in school history that the Jaguars boys basketball team has swept Rockford in CMC play. Back in 2001-2002, they also went 2-0 against the Rockets before finishing 12-2 in the league and 23-4 overall.

The Jaguars have four CMC games left on the schedule, all against the 5th-8th place teams in the league. They need to go 3-1 in those games to win at least a share of the championship. Second-place Maple Lake (7-2), meanwhile, still has Rockford and Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted in their schedule.

**A scheduling note: the Jaguars boys basketball team at Paynesville Area will be made up on Tuesday, February 23. Also, in case anyone was wondering, here's the basic schedule for the Section 6A boys basketball playoffs: March 11 the Jaguars would host a 7pm game, March 13 in a Saturday afternoon game they'd play at the University of Minnesota-Morris, March 16 they'd play again at UM-Morris, March 19 they'd play at Concordia College in Moorhead.

In a home game tonight, the Jaguars girls basketball team dipped Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg below .500 with a 45-42 overtime win. The Jaguars improved to 6-13 with the win, while K-M-S is now 9-10 overall.

A three-point shot by sophomore Raeann Sorenson boosted the Jaguars into a 39-39 tie in the final minute of regulation play. Eight Jaguars scored altogether in a balanced attack, led by double-doubles by the Anderson cousins.
