Jaguars baseball team picks up a 5-4 win at Clarissa over Browerville/Eagle Valley, Kuefler's 3-run home run gives them the win

A no out, three-run home run by Kevin Kuefler erased a 4-2 deficit in the top of the sixth inning at Clarissa, and the Jaguars baseball team (1-0) went home as 5-4 winners over Browerville/Eagle Valley in the season opener.

Kuefler, a junior, also earned three stolen bases in the game.

Sophomore Brady Weller pitched a complete game, earning eight strikeouts to go against only two walks, three earned runs, and seven hits. Brandon Roelike, another sophomore, hit a solo home run during a two-run fifth inning for the Jaguars.

Up next for the Jaguars baseball team: the Central Minnesota Conference opener on Monday (Apr 19) against defending champion and 2010 favorite Eden Valley-Watkins. The game will begin at 4:30 in Eden Valley.

The Jaguars' home opener is on Thursday, April 22, against Holdingford in another CMC game. The Jaguars will host the Eagles in the home opener, at Saints Field in Elrosa, beginning at 4:30.

Eden Valley-Watkins is 4-0 after today, having knocked off the defending Class A champions, MACCRAY, by a 6-5 score today in Raymond. The Eagles are ranked #6 in this week's Class A state rankings. The Wolverines fall to 4-1 overall, having their eight-game winning streak broken that began back in the 2009 Section 3A playoffs.
