Jaguars' fastpitch seeded #4 for playoffs - fourth time in the last five years they will host a playoff game

For the fourth time since 2006, the Jaguars' fastpitch team will host a first-round playoff game.


The Jaguars' fastpitch team earned a #4 seed, gaining them a home playoff game for the fourth time in the past five years, dating back to 2006. They open on May 21 (Friday) with a 5:00pm game against #5-seed Royalton (5-9 overall, 5-4 Prairie Conference). Currently the Royals hold down fourth place in the Prairie Conference.


The Jaguars were edged out for the #3 seed by Browerville, who has won six of their past seven games. The Tigers are 6-3 overall. The Jaguars are 4-7 overall and 3-6 in the Central Minnesota Conference. They defeated Browerville 7-2 at home on April 15 in the second game of the season.

Undefeated Osakis is the #1 seed.

7 - Swanville
8 - Upsala

10 - St.John's Prep

Sub-Section 5A-West semi-finals are at Minnewaska Area on May 25 at 5:00pm. The championship is at 5:00pm on May 27, again at Minnewaska Area.

**Update at 1:00pm...the Dave Sieben track and field invitational at Melrose Area will be held on Friday (tomorrow0 instead of today. It begins at 3:45pm. Teams included are Benson/Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg, Sauk Centre, Long Prairie-Grey Eagle, Minnewaska Area, Albany, New London-Spicer, Osakis, Parkers Prairie, Upsala/Swanville, and Browerville.

**Update at 2:30pm...the Jaguars' varsity fastpitch team will host Maple Lake today, but the JV game has been canceled. The first game of the varsity double-header begins at 4pm.
