Elrosa Saints win 1-0 at Richmond!
Amateur baseball rookie Mike Whittemore, shown hitting in an earlier season game, has provided the Saints a spark on offense while also earning his stripes on the pitching mound this season, when he earned a win against Meire Grove last weekend.
The Elrosa Saints amateur baseball team improved to 9-1 in the Stearns County League North division with a 1-0 win at Richmond today.
The Royals fell to 5-5 in the SCL-South division.
Elrosa now prepares for a tough battle next Friday night under their home lights of Saints Field, when division rival New Munich comes to town for an 8:15pm game. The Silverstreaks are 3-6 in the SCL-North.
SCL results today:
Farming 8, Roscoe 3
Lake Henry 6, New Munich 1
Spring Hill 15, Greenwald 9
At Greenwald, the host Cubs jumped out to a 4-1 lead after four innings were complete. Spring Hill began clawing back, tying the game 5-5 in the sixth inning and then bolting in front over the final three innings. The Chargers improve to 6-4 in the SCL-South, fighting to hold onto second place in the division against Meire Grove, who was idle this weekend and is 4-5 in the league.
SCL division playoffs are on the horizon in mid-July.
