Around the area on Saturday... NL-S volleyball takes 7th at Minnewaska Tournament

From around the area on Saturday...a light roundup of volleyball action...

First, at the 18th annual Minnewaska Area Tournament, the Hancock Owls won the title by going 4-0 on the day. New London-Spicer who travel to face the host Jaguars volleyball team tomorrow night (Monday), had a disappointing 1-3 performance in matches and took 7th place.

Benson (3-1) placed second, followed by Perham (3-1). Osakis (2-2) finished fourth, ahead of the Lakers (2-2). Brandon-Evansville (1-3) placed sixth, followed by New London-Spicer (1-3) and Ortonville (0-4).

NL-S is 4-5 overall and 3-2 in the West Central North Conference.

At the Sauk Rapids tournament, Wadena-Deer Creek, one of the top teams in Class AA this year, won top honors. Sauk Centre finished in 9th place.
