Jaguars wrestlers roll up a big win over Sauk Centre/Melrose Area in a border battle on Tuesday night

Sophomore Patrick Rooney pinned Alex Thompson of the Sauk Centre/Melrose team in a B-B-E record time of nine seconds, in the 160 pound division of the Jaguars' dual meet win on Tuesday night.

The Jaguars wrestling team picked up their second dual win of the season in grand fashion on Tuesday night, when they hosted Sauk Centre/Melrose Area in non-conference action and defeated their Class 2A neighbors by a 45-24 margin. The Jaguars won the first four divisions by pin to jump out to a 24-0 lead right out of the gates.


Earning pins for the Jaguars were Josey Tensen (103), Tyler Tensen (112), Ross Rath (119), Austin Jaeger (125), Patrick Rooney (160), and Dillon Knutson (171).

Wednesday night girls basketball scores (Dec. 22):
Pierz 73, Zimmerman 29 (11 players scored for the Pioneers)
Eagle Valley 74, Swanville 23

Pierz is host to its own four-team tournament. The Pioneers play state-ranked Sauk Centre at 8 p.m. next Monday. The other semifinal pits Crosby-Ironton vs. Trinity Lutheran of Bloomington at 6 p.m.
