Jaguars boys basketball improves to 15-0 after drubbing Hancock 69-27, Kimball knocks down Jaguar girls' hoops team 45-38, Wrestlers split at Rockford

With running time employed for the final half of the second period, the Jaguars boys basketball team defeated the host Hancock Owls 69-27 to move to 15-0 overall this season. After holding a 30-21 lead at halftime, the Jaguars came out with a vengeance and took the Owls out in knockout fashion, scoring a 21-1 run in the first seven minutes of the second half.

The Jaguars (6-0 CMC) will host Holdingford in their next action this Thursday night. The Huskers (4-10, 2-4 CMC) fell to Upsala (12-2) tonight in a non-conference border battle by a 71-53 final score.

Only six teams in Class A out of 171 remain undefeated this season in boys basketball, as Springfield lost tonight at Redwood Valley 72-68 in overtime. Battle Lake, who is in Sub-Section 6A-South, survived a stiff challenge in Brandon from Brandon/Evansville tonight in a Little Eight Conference clash by a 38-34 score.

In wrestling action tonight, the Jaguars wrestling team went 1-1 at the Rockford Triangular. They lost to Royalton/Upsala/Swanville 40-26 before defeating the host Rockets 39-25. Their next action is at the Pierz Triangular next Tuesday, February 1, against the host Pioneers and Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted.


Final score in a home game tonight, the Jaguars girls basketball team fell to 4-9 overall with a tough 45-38 loss to Kimball Area. The Jaguars held a slim 18-16 halftime lead, took a few early leads up to a 23-23 tie, but the Cubs pulled away after that. The Cubs moved to 8-6 overall and 5-2 (2nd place) in the CMC. Up next, the girls basketball team looks to get back on track when they host Maple Lake (0-6 CMC, 6-8) this Friday night.
