Jaguar wrestling invitational is underway

By a little after 6:00, the first two rounds of wrestling were complete, with the updated score shown below...click to enlarge.
Through the first round of action, the Jaguars wrestling team is sitting in fourth place with 21 team points. Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg leads the 8-team pack with 39 team points, followed by Becker at 31 and Minneota with 28 points. Rounding out the bottom four are Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale, Ottertail Central, Long Prairie-Grey Eagle and Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted.
In an exciting semifinal round match at 145 pounds, Daniel Rooney (vs. Ottertail Central) won 5-3 by scoring a takedown in the final seconds of the third period.

At 170 pounds, Patrick Rooney (vs. HL-W-W) won his semifinal match by an 11-2 score.

At 182 pounds, Dillon Knutson won his semifinal round match (vs. LP-GE) by a 7-3 decision.

At heavyweight in the wrestlebacks, Jared Steffensen held a 4-2 lead early in the third period before he got turned and couldn't maneuver out of it in a loss by fall.

In a game that will be on both our radio stations (Smooth Magic 107 and The Train 106.5), the Jaguars boys' basketball team tips off at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Maple Lake.

Tomorrow, the B-B-E Dazzlers dance team will be at the 16th annual Alexandria Cardinal Dance Invite at Jefferson High School. The competition begins at 10 a.m., with the Dazzlers competing in the Class A High Kick during the opening round.
