Elrosa squeezes past Regal to open regions in a nailbiter
The Saints are shown in their last huddle of the night, following the post-game hand shakes in the exciting, nail biting 3-2 win over Regal tonight at Ray Weber Field in St. Martin. |
Scoring all their runs in the 7th inning, the Elrosa Saints beat Regal 3-2 in the opening game of the Region 15C tournament. Regal, the playoff champions of the County Line League, scored runs in the first and third innings to take an early 2-0 lead over the runner-up team out of the Stearns County League North.
Ethan Vogt pitched all nine innings for Elrosa and earned five strikeouts.
The Regal Eagles fans turned out in full force and had plenty to cheer about through the game's first six innings. |
Up next in the Region 15C tournament: the Saints (11-5) face the winner of Saturday's New Munich vs. Richmond game...with a 11:00am start time on Sunday. Regal's next game is at 1:30pm on Sunday against the loser of that same New Munich vs. Richmond game.
The region tournament continues on Saturday starting with an 11:00am game between Lake Henry and New London-Spicer. At 1:30 St. Martin and Spring Hill square off, while at 4:00pm New Munich and New London-Spicer face off in the last opening round game.
A couple quick notes...the Stearns County Fair runs through Sunday in Sauk Centre...and on Saturday night a hog roast, open to the public, takes place at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brooten as they celebrate their 100th anniversary as a church. It all makes for one crazy-hectic weekend!
And another note related to golf: B-B-E's Peyton Miller is in the championship of the consolation bracket tomorrow in the prestigious Resorters Tournament Alexandria after knocking off Taylor Thoreson of Luther College today in 16 holes.
