Ruling the court! Jaguars scrub NL-S

Jamie Meyer and Becca Gruber got a monster block on this attack by NL-S senior middle hitter Olivia Setterberg in game one. It put the Jaguars up 20-14.

Full disclosure: beating the Wildcats in volleyball never gets old!!! It's tough to keep such a streak going (we've won best-of-five matches over NL-S every year since 2001)...and it is awesome every time it happens, no doubt.

After playing through four tense, action-packed games tonight at Fort Knox, New London-Spicer high school, the Jaguars volleyball team picked up a marquee win over the NL-S Wildcats. Game scores were 25-22, 17-25, 25-22, 25-23. It was a gusty, gutsy win with the Jaguars shaking off some rough play in games one, three and four.

The last time NL-S beat the Jaguars in volleyball in a best-of-five match was October 2001. The Wildcats knocked the Jaguars out in the Sub-Section 6AA-19 semifinals when they won game five 16-14 in a 3-2 marathon match.

The Jaguars got off to a great start in game one, up 5-1, before three unforced errors helped NL-S get within one, 6-5. The Wildcats went in front 8-7, and the script for the rest of the evening was written.

They got in front by a big margin in game four, 13-6, before letting the Wildcats get back into it. The match ended in splendid fashion when Kinlee Swanson swatted down an ace attack from the left side for a 25-23 win. The Jaguars are 8-3 overall, while the Wildcats fall to 10-5. These two teams will likely meet again on Saturday at the Willmar tournament.

"Let's beat those Wildcats!"

The block was flat out too late on this kill by Kinlee Swanson. The result was an 8-8 tie in game one after the Wildcats took their first lead of the night.

This was a moment to remember...the large contingent of Jaguar fans (a GREAT turnout) got all hot and bothered when the refs blew a hitting error call in game two.

Oh by the way! Hats off to members of the B-B-E football team for making the trip down Highway 71 to support their girls in what we all knew would be a tough match. They did a fantastic job cheering near the end of game four when the girls needed an extra push to seal the win.
