Jaguars sweep Pierz!
Karlee Kern on serve-receive in game one tonight, a set that finished as a 25-22 win. |
Game three went down to the wire, but the Jaguars volleyball team ended up sweeping Pierz to stay in the hunt for a share of the Central Minnesota Conference title. They had a commanding 23-15 lead but allowed the Pioneers to score five straight points to make it interesting. A Becca Gruber kill brought game and match point, but the Pioneers reeled off three straight points to make it a 24-23 score. After B-B-E called their final timeout, a long volley played out before the Pioneers hit into the net. Game scores tonight: 25-22, 25-14, 25-23.
Pierz slips to 17-7 overall and 5-1 in the CMC to sit in second place with the Jaguars. Up next for the Jaguars is a trip to Alexandria on Saturday for a very tough 8-team tournament. Action at Jefferson High School begins at 9:00am.
Maple Lake won 3-1 tonight in Holdingford to stay on top of the CMC at 6-0. Game scores were 25-18, 19-25, 25-12, 25-19. Now we NEED Pierz to win at Maple Lake next week!
Nick, you rocked tonight along with the rest of our outstanding student section! |
The EV-W Eagles host the Jaguars next Tuesday to finish the regular season.
Also some very awesome news...the Jaguars girls' tennis doubles team of Mattea Eckstein and Daisha Meyer won both their matches today at the Section 5A individual tournament. They play in the Final Four on Monday at St. John's University.
