Jaguars take apart Bulldogs
The Bulldogs struggled in every facet of the game during the first 10 minutes before they started hitting their shots. |
With Paynesville Area coming in with a 5-5 record, the Jaguars boys' basketball team had a capable team on their hands tonight but put it out of reach quickly in the opening minutes. After getting up 29-2, the Jaguars called off the full court trapping press and went into halftime with a 46-21 lead.
For a brief period in the first half, Paynesville went on a 10-2 run. They were severely limited in the opening minutes of the second half, which went into running time with 9 minutes left. Paynesville managed just six points in the first six minutes after halftime and trailed 63-30 with 9:23 left after Nick Benton scored a rebound shot in the paint.
Final: B-B-E 75, Paynesville Area 43. The Jaguars (8-1) now make the trip to Eden Valley-Watkins tomorrow night for an important Central Minnesota Conference game. The Bulldogs fall to 5-6 overall, but one of their wins was over EV-W. The Eagles are 7-3 overall and 2-1 in the CMC.
