Section 4A football
Here's the updated football standings in Section 4A. The last game I didn't get a score on, Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity hosting Medford, was posted this morning. The Bulldogs beat the winless Tigers (0-8) 20-14 to finish the regular season 5-3 overall. They will come in as the number-two seed in the section.
Section 4A rankings (final):
1st Minneapolis North (7-1)
2nd Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity (5-3)
3rd Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City (3-5)
4th Mayer Lutheran (1-7)
5th Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart (2-6)
6th B-B-E (1-7)
7th Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg (1-7)
8th Kimball Area (0-8)
The B-B-E Jaguars football team is on a collision course with Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City. I am fairly confident that the order I have above is the order the QRF seeding will show once that's finalized later today.
The Jaguars and Falcons have met in the football playoffs in 2010, 2012, 2013 and now 2014. It will be an intriguing match up when we travel to Grove City next Tuesday! It gets more dramatic from there!! A win over A-C-GC (and I'll post my thoughts on our odds of beating them later) will set up a trip to Lester Prairie on Saturday, October 25 for the semifinals. LP/HT will run roughshod over Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg in their playoff opener and set up another huge rivalry game. LP/HT and B-B-E have met in the football playoffs in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013, with the Bulldogs holding a 3-2 advantage in that series. The Jaguars knocked out LP/HT in the section semifinals in 2010 and 2012.
While I'm hoping for an upset in our playoff opener game at Grove City, I predict the chalk will hold on the rest of the games and the number one, two and four seeds will win in the quarterfinals.
Stay tuned.
