Jaguars survive Kimball challenge
After shooting horribly from the free throw line at Rockford last Thursday, the Jaguars fared much better tonight with 14-of-20 marks at the line (70 percent). |
Alex Evenson is off to the races after grabbing a steal at the top of the key in the first half tonight. |
As has been said many times tonight via social media, texting and just regular person-to-person conversation, tonight's game was anything but pretty. As difficult as it was to watch at times, I am happy to report that the B-B-E Jaguars girls' basketball team defeated Kimball Area 54-49 in a home Central Minnesota Conference game. For the second straight game, the Jaguars were plagued by extremely poor field goal shooting (29 percent) but managed to pull out the win with solid defense when it mattered in the final minutes.
No time to rest for the weary, as the Jaguars (8-1 CMC, 11-6) travel to Melrose Area tomorrow night for a non-conference border battle.
Here's video from the second half showing (at the first second of the video) Katelyn Heinze's bucket giving the Jaguars a 42-40 lead:

Hometown fans across Jaguar Country should come out tomorrow night to a home game featuring our B-B-E boys' basketball team and the Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta Tigers. It will be a very tough but winnable game for our guys. The Tigers are a good Class 2A team, so beating them would help considerably in the playoff seeding power rankings in Sub-Section 5A-South. And to top it off, the B-B-E Pep Band will perform. Cool!!!
Area girls' basketball scores on February 2:
New London-Spicer 54, HL-W-W 34
Browerville 73, Parkers Prairie 57
West Central Area 66, Underwood 43
A-C-GC 68, MACCRAY 51
