Shut out

It was quite a night in Elrosa, where the B-B-E Jaguars baseball team blanked Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg in a 7-0 shut out win. The Fighting Saints (8-7, 6-3 Camden Conference) were limited to just one hit in the loss by starter Jacob Weller, who pitched all seven innings and had 12 strikeouts. The Jaguars had six hits against two K-M-S pitchers and no errors and scored five times in the third inning to break the game open. K-M-S was ranked fourth in the Sub-Section 5A-West standings, so it was indeed a quality win for B-B-E. Coming in, the Jaguars were ranked seventh in the standings.

On Saturday the Jaguars (5-10) host another sub-section rival, Browerville/Eagle Valley, in a 7 p.m. night contest under the lights of Saints Field. The Tiger Rebels were 8-2 overall and the top-ranked team in the sub-section as of Friday before losing 10-3 to Minnewaska Area (10-2) in the other game played in Elrosa tonight.

On Thursday night in a Central Minnesota Conference doubleheader, the Jaguars dropped two games to Rockford Area in Elrosa. The Rockets stayed in the CMC race with 7-1 and 13-3 (six innings) wins to improve to 8-3 in the standings. Pierz remains in front at 10-1 overall, while Maple Lake is in second at 7-1.

At the Little Crow Invitational on Friday, the B-B-E Jaguars boys' golf team shot a 375 to take eighth place out of 15 teams.
