First win!
The B-B-E Jaguars volleyball team beat Owatonna (a Class 3A school) by a 2-0 margin to open play at the Marshall tournament.
They face Marshall in the second match of Friday night. Stay tuned for updates.
**Update....against perennial Class 2A state contender Marshall Area, the Jaguars won game one before falling in game two. Game three was a battle, but the Tigers won 15-10.
Later tonight I'll post schedule updates for B-B-E's Saturday matches in Marshall.
**Update: the Jaguars (1-4) begin Saturday with a 9:30 a.m. match against Northfield, who is an excellent Class 3A team with a 5-1 record. Northfield swept Hutchinson 2-0 in the first match last night in Marshall, and in their second match they lost to Lakeville South 2-1.
B-B-E plays again at 12 p.m. and at 2:30 p.m. to finish out the day.
Other teams besides B-B-E in the 9th-16th place bracket are Eastview, East Ridge, Kasson-Mantorville and Chaska. I saw that Kasson-Mantorville beat Minneota 2-1 in their first match last night; the Ko-Mets lost 3-1 to Stewartville (third place at state last year) in their Sub-Section, Section 1AA playoffs last year. Eastview is a Class 3A school. East Ridge is a Class 3A school; they lost in the first match of last year's tournament in Marshall 26-24, 25-23 to our Jaguars. Chaska is a Class 3A school.
