Game day at state!
It's game day for the Elrosa Saints amateur baseball team as they head into the third round of the Class C state tournament. They face the defending state champions in the Sweet 16 round with a 5 p.m. start tonight (September 3) at Dassel's baseball park.
In Plato's second game at state last weekend, they beat Fergus Falls 12-1 in seven innings. In their first game at state, they beat Springfield 11-1 in seven innings. Plato was the runner-up team out of Region 7C, losing to Waconia in the championship series.
Just saw this while digging for info on Plato: the Bluejay's Matt Odegaard won the Crow River Valley League batting title with an average of .493 in 69 at bats. He also had the CRVL's most triples (three) and doubles (eight). Plato's Chris Odegaard had the most pitching wins in the CRVL with seven wins. Another pitching stat: Plato's Cody Hallahan had the CRVL's third-best pitching ERA (minimum of 25 innings pitched) with an ERA of 1.0 (27 innings of pitching).
Plato took a 22-3 overall record into the Region 7C tournament. In the CRVL, they finished 17-1.
