Border battle!!
The B-B-E Jaguars boys' basketball team won 65-61 over visiting Paynesville. After trailing 32-24 at halftime, they opened the second half with a 19-3 run! The game went down to the wire, but a late free throw by Evan Wiener made it a four-point game in the closing seconds. The Jaguars allowed Paynesville to shoot a wide-open three at the buzzer, but it glanced off the backboard. Game over, Jaguars win!
Evan Wiener went absolutely nuts on Paynesville (I say that in a good way) and dumped 27 points on their heads. Bravo!
It was a great defensive night, with the Jaguars holding a high-octane Bulldogs offense 12 points below their typical scoring average. For what it's worth, the Jaguars scored about seven point above their typical scoring average.
*Just saw this: Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted knocked Eden Valley-Watkins out of first place with a 53-50 win tonight!
