The B-B-E Jaguars wrestling team is hosting an eight-team tournament today. Five of the eight teams are ranked in some fashion in The Guillotine's polls in Class 1A or 2A.

The finals round will start at 7 p.m.

Team scores with the finals left:
1. Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City 173.
2. LPGE/Browerville 163.
3. B-B-E 153.
4. (tie) Becker and Thief River Falls, 136.5 each.
6. Ottertail Central 114.
7. Albany 75.
8. Fulda/Murray County Central 4.0 points.

*Update: the Jaguars took third place. ACGC took first place, while LPGE/Browerville took second.

Walker Bents, Blaine Fischer and Canon Swanson all won individual titles.

Walker Bents won a 6-2 decision in the 106-pound finals; Blaine Fischer won a 6-4 decision in the 120-pound finals; and Canon Swanson won a 6-3 decision in the 126-pound finals. Also competing in a championship match were Tyler Bents and Mark Jenniges. Tyler Bents lost an 8-6 decision at 145; Jenniges lost a 5-4 decision at 182.

In his semifinal win, Tyler Bents earned his 150th career victory. He is just B-B-E's second wrestler to achieve that incredible feat. Adam Jaeger earned it last season.

Next: the Jaguars will compete at the Paynesville tournament next Friday, January 11.

Basketball updates...
Also, the B-B-E Jaguars girls' basketball team won 47-37 at Pierz tonight for their second Central Minnesota Conference win in a row. It is also B-B-E's fifth win overall in a row while they continue a three-game road swing next week at Maple Lake and then Upsala.

Boys' basketball update...
At Eden Valley tonight, the B-B-E Jaguars boys' basketball team took a 64-50 loss. The Eagles led 31-19 at halftime. EV-W improves to 2-0 in the Central Minnesota Conference and is one of just two teams who are unbeaten in the league. Maple Lake is also 2-0 in the CMC and is 5-4 overall.

B-B-E was held to just 31 percent field goal shooting, while the Eagles shot 42 percent from the floor and drained nine of 15 three-point shots.

*And good luck to the B-B-E/Paynesville Pirouettes dance team as they head to the Alexandria Invitational on Saturday. Their division gets underway at 2 p.m. at Alexandria Area high school.

That's it for now. Time to prepare for the Kick-Off event for the B-B-E Resistance Robotics team's 2019 competition season. The team heads to Central Lakes College in Staples tomorrow. Read more on that here: https://www.firstinspires.org/node/15496.
