Thursday night results and updates

The B-B-E Jaguars wrestling team lost 35-29 to West Central Area/Ashby/Brandon-Evansville in Barrett tonight. It was not a triangular as was previously reported.

Halftime: the girls' basketball team trails EVW 34-18.

In the first 90 seconds of the second half, the Jaguars trimmed the deficit to 34-24, but the Eagles later led 46-28 and were in command the rest of the way.

Final score: EVW 54, B-B-E 40. The Jaguars, who made 13 of 28 two-point shots in the game but just two of 21 three-point attempts, are now 14-5 overall and 6-3 in the Central Minnesota Conference. The Eagles are 18-0 overall and now 11-0 in the CMC. Tonight's win clinched at least a share of the CMC title for EV-W. Their last CMC loss was on February 4, 2016 at Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted; that night, the Lakers won 63-47, but EV-W ended up tying Kimball Area at 12-2 for a co-championship in the CMC.

Also, the last year EV-W hasn't won a conference title was in the 2013-2014 season. That year, HL-W-W finished 14-0, while EV-W tied Rockford Area for third place (9-5).

In boys' basketball news, Pierz knocked visiting Maple Lake out of first place in the CMC with a 65-60 win tonight over the Irish. Technically, Maple Lake (8-7 overall, 5-2 CMC) has a half-game lead over the teams that are tied for second place: B-B-E, EV-W and HL-W-W. Those three teams are currently all 4-2 in the CMC.

**Don't forget! The No. 26-ranked (QRF) B-B-E Jaguars boys' basketball team hosts Holdingford on Friday this week (tomorrow) in a CMC game.
