Never get discouraged
On Saturday night I enjoyed watching a couple documentaries on President Richard Nixon. Historians already have and will continue to have plenty to say about him. It is what it is. The Watergate scandal was a tremendously crazy ordeal for our nation.
On the day he resigned, he provided this incredible quote that is absolutely loaded with wisdom. It is really, really deep and very important for any person to take to heart.
"Never get discouraged. Never be petty. Always remember: others may hate you. Those who hate you won't win unless you hate them. And then you destroy yourself." - Richard Nixon. August 9, 1974.
I wasn't alive during that period in our nation's history. Quite honestly, I don't have much of an opinion about President Nixon beyond knowing he took actions that led to his own demise. He hurt a lot of people along the way. It is what it is. So after getting past that and putting all that aside, you cannot help but admit that what he was quoted as saying above is very, very noteworthy. I'll be reflecting on it for quite some time.
A long, long list of local events are coming up across the Bonanza Valley area. I am doing my best to promote them in the Bonanza Valley Voice. One of the many events that I look forward to each fall (and that list is also very long) is the Bonanza Valley Royal Strutters membership banquet. They have a really incredible group that does so much for our area. Conservation and hunting are very, very important - especially if you live in rural areas. Here's information on the group's upcoming 2019 banquet...click to read more (short link): https://bit.ly/2IxHYlR.
