Section 5A wrestling playoffs underway

The B-B-E Jaguars wrestling team is Final Four-bound after throttling No. 7-seeded Benson tonight in the Section 5A quarterfinals. The final score was 71-9, marking the biggest margin of victory in a playoff match for a B-B-E wrestling team. Benson had advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating Ortonville 54-21 in the preliminary round earlier tonight.

The next round is the section semifinals at 6 p.m. on Friday this week at Minnewaska Area high school. The Jaguars will take on No. 3-seeded Minnewaska Area for a berth in the section finals.

In the other bracket of Section 5A, No. 5-seeded Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg defeated host Paynesville Area 49-27 to advance to the semifinals.

In a home Central Minnesota Conference game, the B-B-E Jaguars boys' basketball team lost 66-44 to first-place Eden Valley-Watkins. The Eagles (20-1) led 39-19 at halftime.
