Step I: boys' playoff opener
The B-B-E Jaguars boys' basketball team holds a 31-25 lead in the opening minute of the second half tonight. No. 6-seeded Sebeka is the sub-section quarterfinal opponent.
The halftime score was 31-23.
A shot by Ryan Schwinghammer, who sat most of the first half with two personal fouls, scored to make it 33-25.
Two minutes into the second half, and the Jaguars hold a 37-27 lead.
**Final score: B-B-E 54, Sebeka 53. The game went down to the wire!
Here's video from the final 64 seconds of the game:
Up next: the Jaguars (13-14) advance to the sub-section semifinals for the third straight year. They play again on Saturday night, March 7 at Wadena-Deer Creek high school. Tip-off will be at approximately 7:30 p.m. (the late game that night at W-DC). Their opponent will be No. 2-seeded Pine River-Backus (18-8, 6-8 Northland Conference). The PR-B Tigers ended No. 7-seeded Verndale's season tonight by a 69-59 score.
More to follow. I am also tracking down an update on the B-B-E Resistance Robotics team. They are in Duluth for their regional competition. A robotics update will be posted in a new blog post, with a link to the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper website.
