Oh-so-close to dethroning the defending champion Eagles
I did a quick tally of the recent Eden Valley-Watkins boys' basketball team's records in the Central Minnesota Conference. EV-W has a 49-6 record in the CMC in the past four seasons, and they took second in 2017-2018 behind Maple Lake. Since B-B-E last won the CMC title in 2013-2014, EV-W has gone 86-11 with three runner-up finishes and four solo crowns.
Looking back, here's the CMC records for EV-W in the past seven seasons:
13-1
14-0
10-3
12-2 (second) in 2017-2018 behind Maple Lake (13-1)
12-2 (second) in 2016-2017 behind 13-1 Holdingford
13-1 (first) in 2015-2016
12-2 (second) in 2014-2015 behind Maple Lake (13-1).
That is an impressive list! And our B-B-E Jaguars boys' basketball team was within one point on both tries this season of swiping the CMC title away from the Eagles.
Radio coverage...
Also, I've received word that 106.5 FM The Train will carry the Wednesday and Thursday playoff games this week. The boys' basketball game on Thursday against W-H-A will be streamed only. I have updates for playoff games after those two, but I'll get to that later this week.
Also, on Wednesday this week, Smooth Magic 107 FM will cover the girls' basketball playoff opener.
