Girls' Step I: breezing past the Pirates

After seven minutes of play, the B-B-E Jaguars girls' basketball team has a 22-2 lead over Verndale.

At halftime, the Jaguars hold a 56-7 lead.

Early in the second half, the Jaguars have opened up a 59-10 lead.

Final score: B-B-E 78, Verndale 18. A total of 13 Jaguars scored tonight.

The Jaguars (18-1) host the next round on Friday this week at 7 p.m. at B-B-E high school.

A short video clip from the parade in Padua has been added to the previous blog post.

Currently, I only see scores out of Sub-Section 5A-East from tonight's action. I'll check again around 9 o'clock to see if 5A-West scores are available.

**Update: the Jaguars will face No. 4-seeded Walker-Hackensack-Akeley in the sub-section semifinals this Friday at 7 p.m. at B-B-E high school. This game will be a rematch of last year's high-octane sub-section championship game, which was won by the Jaguars by a 76-58 score. It was a crazy night, with B-B-E running on all cylinders as they handed W-H-A just their third loss of the season. The Wolves finished 27-3.

This year, W-H-A is 8-10 overall.

Tonight in their playoff opener, the W-H-A Wolves defeated Nevis 58-43 in Walker.

Congratulations to the Breckenridge girls' basketball team for their playoff-opening win tonight...they are coached by B-B-E Class of 2013 graduate Austin Imdieke. His team was seeded No. 6 in Sub-Section 8AA-South, but they pulled off the upset tonight by defeating No. 3-seeded Perham 55-43. The win avenges Breckenridge's 53-47 loss at Perham in last year's playoff opener.

Imdieke is a mainstay on the Elrosa Saints amateur baseball team. He is currently in his third year on the staff of Breckenridge schools and third as their head girls' basketball coach. In addition to that coaching title, he is head coach of the Cowgirls' fastpitch softball team. In his first year at Breckenridge, his Cowgirls team went 15-11, including a 2-1 mark in the sub-section playoffs. They lost 83-71 in the third round to a high-powered Roseau Rams squad that ultimately finished in third place at the state tournament with an 81-43 win over Albany. Last season, the Cowgirls went 15-12 overall. This year, Imdieke's Cowgirls team is 12-6 overall with the playoff win.
