Subsection finals! Updates

It's sub-section championship night in Jaguar Country!

At halftime: Pine River-Backus 24, B-B-E 23. The Tigers were two-for-three at the free throw line in the first half. They had an unofficial total of four turnovers, and leading scorers were senior guard Riley Hirschey with eight points, senior guard Olivia Adkins with eight points and sophomore center Ramsey Tulenchik with six points.

For B-B-E in the first half: Josie Knutson was leading scorer in the first half with nine points. Allisa Knight had five points, and Liz French had four points off the bench. The Jaguars made just two of seven free throw shots in the opening half and had an unofficial turnover total of five.

We've had an outstanding game so far, and the defense by both teams has really set the tone.

OVERTIME! We go to an extra session with the game tied at 44-44.

The second half was neck-and-neck with a handful of lead changes until B-B-E gained a two-possession lead for the first time with seven minutes to go. At that point, Abbe Berge scored on a layup for a 37-32 lead. The Jaguars gained a 43-37 lead on another layup by Berge with 2:56 left.

The Tigers then knotted it up at 44-44 when Hirschey scored on a right-side layup with 53 seconds left in regulation play.

More to follow in a new blog post, with video and other information after the game is complete.
