WOW!!!

What a night! What a night!!

What a NIGHT!

The B-B-E Jaguars girls' basketball team won 44-43 in overtime to hand No. 2-ranked (Class 2A) Sauk Centre their first loss of the season. B-B-E led 15-12 at halftime.

With 4.7 seconds left in overtime, Karsee Kampsen hit the front end of a bonus free throw opportunity to break a 42-42 tie. The last five seconds was filled with action, but the Jaguars denied the Mainstreeters from sinking any additional buckets and came away with the huge, HUGE border battle win.

B-B-E (14-1) held a 37-30 lead in the second half before the Mainstreeters (13-1) stormed back to gain a 38-37 lead. It was back-and-forth from that point on as the second half wore on. The large Sauk Centre surge was a shock to the system, as they outscored the Jaguars by a 16-4 margin after B-B-E took a 33-22 lead.

The entire game brought me back a full 24 years to the night that a Michelle (Marthaler) Perkins-coached B-B-E team knocked off previously undefeated New London-Spicer 60-53 in overtime on our home floor (then at the elementary) during the 1996-1997 season. NL-S finished that season 29-1 overall as Class 2A state champions.

The Jaguars shot 38 percent on field goals and made four of 11 three-point shots. Abby Berge was the leading scorer with 15 points, including two key three-pointers in the first half. She made one more three-pointer in the second half and finished with four rebounds and two steals. Allisa Knight was also in double figures with 12 points.

At Delano tonight, the B-B-E Jaguars wrestling team went 1-1 to close out the regular season. They defeated Delano 54-12 and lost to Becker 45-18. Becker is the No. 6-ranked team in Class 2A, and they have no fewer than SEVEN wrestlers who are ranked in the Top 10 of their respective weights in Class 2A.

I've been in Morris all night with the fourth grade girls' basketball Jaguars. They had their first-ever tournament as a group! This is the Class of 2029. They played a round robin tournament with Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta, Alexandria and Hancock. It was a very, very fun night. We are super proud of them for going out and overcoming their first-tournament jitters!!!

At Holdingford tonight, the B-B-E Jaguars boys' basketball team made it five wins in a row by defeating the Huskers 53-39. Kaden Pieper led the Jaguars with a stellar 25 point effort. Ashton Dingmann added 12 points with a team-leading eight rebounds.
