Boys' basketball finals

The Hancock Owls boys' basketball team finished as Class 1A state runners-up after falling 61-60 to Hayfield in today's state championship action at Target Center.

The Owls trailed 61-57 and got a three-pointer at the buzzer. They finished 19-6 overall and went 7-1 in the Pheasant Conference to tie West Central Area as co-champions.

In Class 3A, Alexandria was soundly defeated by Minnehaha Academy in an 80-29 loss. The Cardinals finished 22-2 overall; they were 15-1 and sole champions of the Central Lakes Conference.
