Friday Night Lights I: HARD WORK PAYS OFF! That was FUN! (VIDEOS)

The hard work put in during the offseason and during the preseason paid off for the B-B-E Jaguars football team tonight in the season opener. For Friday Night Lights I, the Jaguars established the ability to run the game and control the clock during the first drive of the game. Facing the undermanned but talented and spirited Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg Fighting Saints, the Jaguars fired on all cylinders from start to finish in a 26-0 shut out win. The depth of having 41 players on the roster really paid off tonight. Depth and conditioning are two of the most important aspects in high school football!

For the game, the Jaguars tallied an unofficial 301 yards of offense. Wow! Coach Moscho was reviewing the game stats as we visited following the game, and that's what he was seeing on the stat chart. The official stat figures are forthcoming.  *UPDATE: the official tally was 329 yards of offense! Of that, 219 yards were earned on the ground, with B-B-E's run game averaging over 5.7 yards per carry! Each team had three quarterback sacks. For B-B-E, Carson Gilbert had two sacks, and Aaron Schulz had one sack. B-B-E's defense held K-M-S to a total of 48 yards of offense for the game.

Up next for Friday Night Lights II: the Jaguars travel to Maple Lake to take on the Class 2A Irish on Friday, September 10. Kickoff from Irish Stadium is at 7 p.m. And YES, The Voice will be there! Maple Lake lost their season opener last night at Irish Stadium to visiting Upsala/Swanville Area by a score of 36-0. Also, the B-B-E JV Jaguars football team starts their season with a road trip to Murdock next Tuesday to face K-M-S.

Here's my first video from tonight, which features the team huddle and player-led, pre-game prayer plus the playing of the National Anthem prior to the player introductions and kickoff:

Here's a video featuring the Jaguars getting pumped up just moments before kickoff of the season opener tonight...leading the cheering was senior Ashton Dingmann, who was injured in the sub-section semifinal basketball playoffs last March. He is unable to play football this fall, but he continues providing incredible support to his teammates in practices and, of course, at games.

Here's a lengthy video recorded in the first quarter, including the game-opening kickoff. B-B-E's offense was first on the field, and they scored on their first possession. That touchdown came at about the 7:00 mark on the video:

More to come.
