Breaking news: girls' basketball postponed
Hot off the press from the B-B-E Activities Director office...
Tonight's Central Minnesota Conference girls' basketball opener at Kimball Area has been postponed. The Kimball team has illness striking down too many players at the present time. We wish them all the best and pray for successful recoveries for everyone.
While it is a huge disappointment, as I have been looking forward to this game ever since the season opener last Tuesday, these are the cards that life sometimes hands you. We are just extremely fortunate that our waves of illness passed through our school roughly two weeks ago. In my view, this creates some mental adversity for our varsity team, as this creates a 10-day layoff between games. Their next game is on Friday this week at Holdingford.
On the upside: now I am freed up to travel to Osakis for the boys' basketball opener. As it was, I did not see any chance at watching them in person until the week before Christmas when they host Minnewaska Area on Thursday, December 22. That is a long, long ways away. Right now the only team hurting from coverage is our wrestling team, which I don't think I will see in person until Tuesday, December 20 when they host a triangular at the high school.
After tonight's boys' basketball opener, the Jaguars hit the road to Ashby for a Section 6A contest on Thursday, December 15. On Friday, December 16, the Jaguars travel to Holdingford for the Central Minnesota Conference opener. Over the Christmas break, the Jaguars have two games in St. Cloud on Thursday and Friday, December 29-30.
Tonight's game will be very tough! The Osakis Silverstreaks won 25 games last year and lost just two starters to graduation, althought both were very good. It will be a great game. I will get a new blog post added tonight with game updates.
