Boys' basketball back on track, wrestlers second at home (VIDEO)

It was a crazy busy night to close out what was a logistically challenging day on the home front. However, seeing our teams earn success in their winter sports makes all the effort worth it! Remember! Anything of value is worth whatever you have to put into it to earn it!! Just after 10 o'clock tonight we made it back home and are very happy to be back on a night when the temperature outside is slipping below zero. The cold weather created a minor auto disaster that I had to take care of this afternoon. Ultimately I was more stubborn than the problem, but it made a disaster out of my day. Long story...for another time. I've got two girls' basketball videos posted below.

At non-conference Upsala, the No. 5-ranked B-B-E Jaguars boys' basketball team got back in the win column to snap a two-game skid as they easily handled the Cardinals 84-50. They are now 4-2 overall. Senior Brady Schwinghammer erupted for a career-high 17 points with four three-pointers and 3-for-3 free throw shooting to go with two steals. Also in double figures were Luke Dingmann (23) and Kaden Pieper (22). Overall, the Jaguars shot at a high clip at 48 percent from the floor but were ice cold (10-of-22) at the free throw line.

Upsala falls to 2-6 overall with their third straight loss. They are 1-1 in the Prairie Conference.

At the Jaguar Invitational, the No. 4-ranked B-B-E wrestling team took second place behind No. 12-ranked (Class 2A) Thief River Falls. The Prowlers had 221 points to B-B-E's 197.5 points. I'm combing through the brackets right now. After looking over it, I've posted the individual results below. They had a great night on the home mats! Eight of their 13 wrestlers took third place or better. The open weight at 126 pounds hurt them tonight.

At Maple Lake, the No. 16-ranked B-B-E Jaguars girls' basketball team picked up a 72-33 win in their second straight night of Central Minnesota Conference action. Leading the way for the Jaguars was Abby Berge with 25 points, 13 rebounds and 5 steals, while Tiyana Schwinghammer had a season-best 23 points (53 percent field goal shooting) with 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Bree Thieschafer had her best game of the season with 10 points and 3 rebounds off the bench.
