Dang it! It's the Wildcats in three (VIDEOS)

It's almost 9 o'clock on Wednesday night, and I'm finally getting back to sports reporting after a long day...a second video was added below.

A talented and experienced New London-Spicer Wildcats team earned a 3-0 sweep over our B-B-E Jaguars volleyball team tonight on the home floor. Game scores were 25-23, 25-20, 25-19. The second set was very tough to see slip away down the stretch after the Jaguars led 17-9 at one point. That was harsh! The Wildcats used late momentum from game two to build a commanding lead throughout the middle of the final set. The Jaguars had a few late bursts of offense down the stretch, but the closest they got was 24-19.

*Here's a video featuring the final points scored in game one tonight:

In game one, the Jaguars fell behind 18-10 at one point. In that video, the Jaguars trailed 22-19 before Kacey Fischer had a kill. The Jaguars eventually tied it at 23-23, but the Wildcats scored the final two points to take an early 1-0 set lead. That's all I have to post tonight for game notes. I'll be writing this match into my volleyball story for the Bonanza Valley Voice in this week's issue! It prints tomorrow morning.

I was very proud of our B-B-E student section tonight! They were terrific, especially in games one and two. It was tough to keep the power and energy alive when the game on the court is slipping away. Giving major credit to NL-S, they brought a large, loud and proud crowd to town and also did a great job supporting their team. This is what high school sports is all about! It was another memorable border battle.

You can read a full recap of the volleyball match in this week's Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper. What went to press was a small 12-page issue that included just four volleyball photos. My goal is to get a bigger sports section next week! Let's see how that goes. I got a huge boost from a larger-than-usual advertisement for the back page this week from the Monson Lake Opry music festival coming this Saturday night in Hayes Township, rural Sunburg. I'll get a web article posted on that to the newspaper's website on Thursday. Brad Danielson has had this event advertised in our Bonanza Valley Voice for the past few weeks, and we appreciate his support!

Here's a video featuring the playing of the National Anthem, the starter introductions and the opening minutes of the first set:

NEXT: the Jaguars (2-1) now host Holdingford this Thursday night to open the Central Minnesota Conference schedule. It's a very important match! Video is uploading. Stay tuned...I'll get a video posted some time after 10 p.m. tonight. Wish me luck at getting through the night to beat my press deadline! This blog post will be updated further tomorrow morning.
